EMIKO EDWARDS, Pianist Described as “dazzling” and “scintillating” (Classical Source), pianist Emiko Edwards has received awards and accolades for her performances throughout the United States and abroad. By age ten, she had made her piano concerto debut in anappearance with the New Sussex Symphony, and by age eleven, she had won her first international piano competition. Other orchestras she appeared with are the Westfield Symphony and the Manalapan Battleground Symphony in New Jersey, as well as the Cambridge Graduate Orchestra in England.

An award-winning pianist, Ms. Edwards’ achievements includeprizes in the Music TeachersNational Association (MTNA) Eastern Division Competition, International Young Artists Piano Competition in Washington, DC, New York International Piano Competition presented by the Stecher and Horowitz Foundation, Cape Vincent International Piano Competition, and Julia Crane International Piano Competition. Ms. Edwards has also performed internationally in Spain, Japan, the United Kingdom, and Canada. Ms. Edwards' playing and interviews have been featured in two nationally-aired documentaries, “On a Personal Note” and "Piano Forte.” Ms. Edwards has been a featured performer in Weill Recital Hall (Carnegie Hall), Merkin Concert Hall, Alice Tully Hall, Tenri Cultural Institute, Milton Court Concert Hall, and Yamaha Salon. Her other performance venues include the Peter Jay Sharp Theater, Paul Hall, and Morse Hall atThe Juilliard School. Ms. Edwards has also been featured on BBC Radio 3.

Ms. Edwards received her Bachelor’s Degree from the Juilliard School of Music studying underJulian Martin, and an Artist Diploma and Master’s Degree from the Guildhall School of Music in London under the tutelage of Ronan O’Hora. She is currently based in Philadelphia, where she is a doctoral candidate at Temple University working with Sara Davis Buechner and Charles Abramovic. Ms. Edwards has been on the faculty of Bravura Summer Music, a summer youth program of the Bravura Philharmonic Orchestra.

An avid advocate for community outreach, Ms. Edwards was the artistic director for The (New York City) Five Boroughs Performing Arts Series. Organized in partnership with the Boys Club of New York, the concert series is dedicated to spreading dance, music, and drama throughout New York City.

Ms. Edwards feels that she is very much a product of her community. Born in Princeton and educated in the West Windsor-Plainsboro school district, she is very thankful for her community's ardent support of the arts. She also expresses her deep gratitude to all the teachers who helped mold her during her pre-college years into the artist she is today: Ingrid Clarfield, Chiu-Tze Lin, Chiu-Ling Lin, and Ray Landers.
