The featured soloist, 18-year-old Mia Huang, has been the concertmaster of the Bravura Youth Orchestra for the last two years. Mia is a senior at the Peddie School, and is a violin student of Yousun Kim, and formerly with Hua-Yi Wang. She is a prizewinner in numerous competitions, including the New Jersey Music Teachers Association competition, National League of Performing Arts competition, Cecilian Music Club competition, and the New Jersey State Performance competition of the Music Teachers National Association. Mia has performed in prestigious venues including Alice Tully Hall of Lincoln Center, Weill Recital Hallof Carnegie Hall, Metropolitan Museum of Art, Merkin Concert Hall, New Jersey Performing Arts Center, and the United Nations. An avid chamber musician, Mia Huang and her chamber groups in the Bravura Youth Orchestra have won the Grand Prize in the National League of Performing Arts Chamber Music Competition, and they have played in Weill Recital Hall of Carnegie Hall and Merkin Concert Hall. Mia has performed in Russia, China,and Taiwan with the Bravura Youth Orchestra, and served as theco-concertmaster of the Russian Chamber Orchestra in Moscow, Russia. Mia is a member of the "Back to Bach" Project, an outreach program that provides peer-to-peer inspiration for young school children.
